Art Gallery in Milan

MAAB Gallery

The MAAB gallery was renovated starting from the union of two small contiguous spaces located on the ground floor of a historic building in the heart of Milan's Cinque Vie district.

The historical analysis conducted on the property directed the architectural project towards recovering the original configuration of the spaces, rediscovering the continuity of the barrel vaults and the depth of the walls. The design of the new internal paths aims to be a contemporary reinterpretation of the ancient secret passages, allowing an effective separation of the environments and control of all spaces from the workstations. The barrel vault is crossed by a technical element that houses both the lighting fixtures for creating direct light on the exhibited works and those for ambient lighting. The contiguous space was integrated with the construction of a mezzanine, partly glazed, to create an office space open to the gallery.
